CarverMusik was formed in 2013. We specialize in musicological analysis, copyright and public domain research, and genre and historical music consulting.

The CarverMusik team is uniquely qualified to assist filmmakers, television producers, attorneys, music supervisors, performers, songwriters, composers, music editors, music publishers and record labels with their music research, analysis, clearance and licensing needs.  We are highly experienced in the filmmaking and post-production process, we work quickly and professionally, and we have countless well-established contacts throughout the entertainment industry.  

The company's founder, Denise Carver, is a highly qualified musicologist with nearly 30 years of experience in the entertainment business. She holds a Ph.D. in music composition, and she is also a licensed California entertainment attorney and a former Vice President of Music at Hollywood-based motion picture studio Paramount Pictures.

Dr. Carver has served as a consultant, researcher or clearance professional on more than 500 film, TV and soundtrack album projects, including the Transformers, Star Trek, Mission: Impossible and Jackass film franchises; biographical concert films about artists Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Jay-Z and Tupac Shakur; Academy Award winning and nominated films Forrest Gump, Titanic, The Hours, The Godfather Part III, Rango, BraveheartGhost, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Saving Private RyanBabel, Hustle & Flow, Nebraska and Lady Bird; and TV shows Stranger Things, Orange Is The New Black, The Rap Game, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, The Conan O'Brien Show, Revenge Body With Khloe Kardashian, MTV Ridiculous, The Pop Game , The Romanoffs, The Man In The High Castle and Little Miss Atlanta.

Dr. Carver has taught music theory and composition at the University of California; mentored at the Billboard/Hollywood Reporter Film & TV Music Conference; appeared as guest presenter at the Hollywood SyncSummit, the Guild of Music Supervisors Conference, the International Congress on Women in Music, and the UC Symposium on Arts and Humanities Ph.D.’s; participated in master classes at the Cheltenham Festival of Music (England); studied International Law at the Salzburg Institute in Salzburg, Austria; and adjudicated the California Teachers Music Composition Competition. She is a member of NARAS (The Recording Academy), BMI performing rights society, the California Bar Association and the American Musicological Society.
